Citroen AX GT

We are excited to offer for sale this unique 1988 Citroen AX GT, finished in Superlustre Platinum Metallic with less than 40,000 miles from new. With its legendary 1.4 Single choke Twin Solex TU Engine making a healthy 85bhp, it is every bit as good to drive as you think – lighting sharp, no mass whatsoever and genuinely “go kart like” (an often incorrectly used term in this industry, but genuinely this side of a classic Mini – we’re not sure what is more go kart like!)

So much love has gone into this car, that in the last three years alone there are invoices totalling approximately £5,000 – money well spent on such an unrepeatable car.

Among those invoices, there’s a sizeable one from Pug1Off as part of our preparation. This included a cambelt replacement, service, rear dampers and tie rods (amongst other things) to ensure our AX GT is razor sharp. We like cars like this to drive as well as they look!

In May 2025 the car had a major service with spark plugs and all filters replaced, along with new exhaust silencer. Prior to that, in 2022 the car had a lot of love, including cambelt and water pump, coolant flush,  brake lines and pipes, new tyres and wheel refurbs. It had a complete steam cleaning underneath all of the wheel arches and body, and the underside was cleaned and wax oiled.

Between 2007 and 2022 the car has been stored and not used. It had a service and cambelt before it was put away along with other invoices for various other parts, which tells us it went into storage as a cherished car.

Remarkably, we have a full set of owners’ manuals and booklets, which would be near impossible to find again – further evidence that this car has been cared for and loved by its previous keepers.
